Bushveld weddings take place at the little bushveld chapel surrounded by bush and trees in an area at Tamboti Lodge. The Chapel is done up to perfection and reflects true African style with an African minister to take care of the ceremony and do all the legalities.
Couples can write their own vows if they want to. Because the lodge is far from florists and trying to keep bouquets and flower arrangements fresh has proven to be quite an exercise especially in the summer when it’s extremely hot, Pixie does a very high quality silk bridal bouquet and buttonhole in the couples choice of colour but it is interesting to note that gold, white and bits of green blend beautifully with nature and are most popular for bushveld weddings. Chairs with white chair covers, white tie backs and a small flower in the centre at the back are all done by Pixie and set up in the bush outside the open air chapel. Recorded music can be played whilst the bride makes her way toward the groom down the self made aisle leading up to the chapel. A highly professional photographer clicks away to ensure that every moment is captured forever.
There are many ideas to keep guests entertained whilst photographs are being done…. a glass of sherry can be served as a toast, guests can explore the grounds or simply relax in the bar. Most couples opt for the bushveld braai and these can be done even if it’s an elope package and just the bride and groom. Derricks luxury braais are a huge hit and we have had many compliments. The bushveld braai consists of steak, wors, chicken, paptert, salad, roll and desert. What more could anyone need?? Although Tamboti is small and intimate, guests who want to dance can be catered for after dinner. Area is cleared, DJ brought in and you can party party party….. Sometimes, guests prefer to just sit around a fire in the boma and chat with their favourite CD’s playing in the background but anything can be arranged just dependant on your personal requirements and budget.
When having guests, additional accommodation is available and the Lodge can sleep more than 30 guests but Derrick has wonderful friends in the area and it’s great to see how one helps the other with accommodation.
